This is a harder to find and better quality souvenir from the Glasgow Empire Exhibition of 1938.

It is a vintage Scottish biscuit or shortbread tin.

It is in relatively fine condition given its age.

This tin has red tartan sides which continues up onto the lid. On top of the tartan background on the lid is an image of the Scottish Pavilion, which has been printed mainly in gold, but with black and red details. There are subtle little thistle motifs on the margin.

The image is certainly very Art Deco in style.

There is an image of the Red Lion in a gold shield on the sides - front and back (the symbol of the exhibition) - and there are wheat sheaves on each side. On the base is the following text: United Co-Operative Baking Society Ltd / Glasgow / Clydebank / Belfast.

These old souvenir tins are now highly collectable.

This one is in fine condition with a nice clear image on the hinged lid.

This tin is a duplicate one to another that I also have in my Iconic Edinburgh online store. This one is in a slightly shabbier condition with a little bit of rubbing to the image of the Pavilion in the lower center, as reflected in my asking price.

All the same - it is in pretty good vintage condition - with no nasty scratches to it - the lid is raised with a slight dome shape.

A nice item to add to your collection of items from International Exhibitions or World Fairs.

Dimensions: 16 x 11.5 x 5 cm

It is one of a number of rarer tins from this exhibition in my Iconic Edinburgh online store, of course, postal discounts would apply if you would like more than one item.
