This is one of a selection of harder-to-find vintage fashion and household magazines that I have listed in my shop.
This one is was issued in March 1955. It is now over 65 years old! yikes!
It is a monthly publication - with features on art, design, home interiors and decorating, and household applicants.
It is hardback cover and measures 27.5 x 22 cm.
This one is in fine vintage condition. It has lots of fascinating features and some fabulous adverts inside.
Homes and Gardens 1950s magazine issues are getting harder to find - and this is reflected in my price.
I have taken a number of random images inside the issues for your inspection. The cover is generally fine. The colours are bright and fresh - it is strangely not a softcover magazine but has a hardback cover - perhaps it was one specially made to go into a public library collection - as it seems to have an old Scottish library label, card and dates stamps for loans on the inside covers as photographed.
Lots of pages.. some 215 - so a nice thick... lots of fabulous period adverts (some of the full-page colour ones could be removed and framed) and design inspiration. Indeed there are lots and lots of period adverts in here - both in colour and black and white. Stories and fashion and beauty tips.
It is a great issue - have priced to take into consideration that it is an ex-library issue. These 50s issues are harder to find - and this is a great research resource for interior designers.
