This is a most fabulous piece of genuine Monart Glass.
It is a very large bulbous piece - and the colours, the generous amount of gold speckles and dancing swirls of colour are the middle section are just spectacular. I am thinking of keeping this one as it is such a splendid piece of Monart Glass.
The colours are just lovely - with a very mottled grey-sky blue colour to the base - this travels up the main body of the vase and turns into a sugar pink to the rim. The transition is very subtle - and where the colours change you have coloured swirls and lots of gold aventurine flecks all over. I have photographed these for you - it has been a little tricky and the vase is cased in clear glass and this has made it very shiny and reflective when I was taking my photographs. I hope they do this beautiful vase justice - it certainly looks much better in real life!
It dates to around the 1930s. It has the typical raised Monart polished pontil mark on the base, as photographed. Sadly the original paper label is no longer present. These were often washed off the base area over the decades.
It is certainly a show-stopper and one of my favourite examples of vintage Scottish glass. It is a much sought-after larger size. It measures 7 3/4 inches in height and at the widest point, it is 6 3/4 inches.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
