This is a very pretty and rare display piece - although it could also be a functional item on special occasions.
This was an early 20th-century Austrian Amphora pottery puzzle jug - which takes the form of a teapot or kettle.
The puzzle is that you can't remove the lid - so how do you fill the pot?
The handle is hollow - with one of the little "bobble" type decorations on the top has a hole in it - and this is where you fill the pot through.
The colours are very pretty - in pale peppermint greens and sugar pink colours - these have a slight lustre to them. The pot is also decorated all around with tiny flowers - all in the Weiner Werkstatte or Jugendstil style.
There is a larger lozenge with flowers within it on the front and a band with runs around the back.
Fully marked below as you can see with an impressed Crown and also an Amphora mark, etc.
The pot has a gilded stem, spout rim and knobs, and is in good condition with no chips or losses. It is about 6 inches in height and measures about 8 inches across.
