This is a lovely Scottish St Magnus pendant made in the mid-1970s by Malcolm Gray for Ortak,
The Ortak company was originally founded in the late sixties by Malcolm Gray in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. The company grew steadily to become one of the UK's leading manufacturers and designers of fine silver and gold jewellery.
The beautiful pendant is in the St Magnus cross design. It is marked on the back with Malcolm Gray's stamp - and an Edinburgh hallmark for the year 1976.
It is a nice large size being 3.5 cm in diameter. The chain has a total length (end to end) of 21 inches. I think that the chain is silver - as I can see a very faint Sterling impressed on the catch ring. The chain catch is a lockable c-clasp. The chain will not go over your head and you need to open the clasp to put it on.
It is nice and clean and ready to wear.
Vintage Ortak pieces are now becoming highly collectible.
