This is an early large Vasart Glass vintage paperweight - made in Scotland in the 1950s.
There is a thin aqua-green ground, into which the millefiori canes are placed.
I really like this weight as the colours of the canes are so pretty - and suggests that it might have been made by one of the Vasart brothers and probably dating to around 1959. The three Ysart brothers were called Vincent, Augustine and Salvador Ysart. The factory changed its name to Vasart Glass in 1956 and later to Strathearn Glass in 1965.
There is a pretty central rosette - with a pale blue center cane, surrounded by mustard canes and an outer pale blue ring. From the central rosette section issues a series of yellow and blue half spokes. There are eight of these in total. In between are trios of millefiori canes of cobalt blue and sugar pink.
The clear crown or dome - is a little more clear-grey in colour, suggesting an older weight with more lead in the glass. There are two little internal air bubbles on the ground on the base.
It is a nice large size with a diameter is 3 inches and a height is 2 1/4 inches. It is over 500 grams unpacked. So I can post outside of the UK. Please ask me about this.
No damages or scratches to the glass.
