This is another pretty piece of Victorian Scottish pottery - made by Robert Heron & Sons / Methven Pottery, Kirkcaldy.

It is an attractive open serving bowl. It has tall sides and would be perfect for serving crisps or tortilla chips in.  There is a little craquelure to the inside of the bowl - so it would be best for dry foods - or as a decorative item.

Dimensions: Overall height of the bowl is 4 inches. The diameter at the widest point is 6 1/2 inches. The foot diameter is 3 inches.

CONDITION: A lovely Scottish pottery spongeware bowl - no chips or cracks, This is no discolouration to the pottery body - as mentioned above it has a little bit of antique glaze crazing to the interior - this is a common occurrence on antique Heron and it is generally found on these old pieces.

Robert Methven Heron was the owner of the Fife Pottery in Kirkcaldy. He introduced a new pottery range called Wemyss Ware in 1882.

It is a fine piece of antique Scottish studio pottery.

It is certainly a very fresh hand-painted pattern. I have a number of pieces with this decoration on sale in my online store.

The price to post in the UK will be £4.95 - this is with Royal Mail 2nd Class Recorded and applied to your order at checkout.

If you would like more than one of my Heron / Methven items - I can cap multiple purchases at £10 in the UK.
