This is a particularly fine antique Victorian Staffordshire Poodle. Sadly - just the one, but handy if you are looking for one to make up a pair.
It takes the form of a seated poodle. Its fur is suggested by the addition of little particles of shredded clay on its chest, head, and ears - and it has a little fluffy tail on the ground at the side.
It is certainly a better modeled example with formed and separate front legs.
I love the expression on the wee fellow's face - with spindly whiskers, his black muzzle, and red mouth below- and yellow-painted eyes with black arches eyebrows above. He has a little padlock on his collar highlighted with dull gilt.
Generally, Mr Poodle is in very good antique condition - with no chips, etc. All the fritwork on the fur is in good condition - nice and clean with no major or disfiguring losses. He is being sold as a genuine antique example and NOT a later reproduction.
Very attractive and will look fabulous on a country kitchen dresser or on a fireplace in a Victorian parlour.
