Bel Cowie was born in 1943 in Dundee. She was a painter in oil but is probably best known for her screenprints. Cowie trained at Gray's School of Art and Ceramische Fachschule, Berne.
Her work often reveals her fascination with Japanese prints and weaving designs. There is always a gentle delicacy in her work.
Bel Cowie exhibited regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh between 1974 and 1982. Examples of her work are in the Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museum.
She died suddenly in tragic circumstances in 1983 at the early age of 40.
Works by her are now very hard to find.
Condition - it is in excellent condition with no condition problems. It is on nice thick paper - and this is lovely and clean. It was probably printed at the Peacock Printmakers in Aberdeen. She was the Director of the Peacock Printmakers and was an active member of the SSA.
This most attractive work by Cowie is being sold unframed and will be posted in a sturdy tube.
It will be £10 to post recorded delivery and insured in the UK only.
