This is one of a small selection of original Georgian / Regency etched satirical prints that I have in my Iconic Edinburgh online shop.

This is a fine work by Isaac Robert George Cruikshank ( 1789-1856) with original impressions dating to around the 1820s.

My prints are slightly later antique re-prints from the original plates and these were all published by Thomas McLean for the second and final edition, 1835 (as annotated below).

They are hand-tinted with watercolour.

Each of my prints is identically framed - with a fine new & good quality frame, and are certainly ready to hang when you unpack them!

This one is titled below the images: A Dandy fainting or - An Exquisite in Fits. Scene a Private Box Opera.

The image is again a rather timeless one .... lordy me! a dandy has been overcome with an attack of the vapours at the Opera. His clothes and corset are so tight and this excitement at witnessing the performance has caused him to have a fainting fit. He is certainly suffering for his art - his friends gather around him and try to revive him, not with smelling salts, but with a blast of eau de cologne up his nostril - and are worried about spilling it on the Dandies fine costume. Very Beau Brummell in inspiration. Brummell was a Regency dandy and fashion leader, famous for his elegant dress, his witty remarks and his friendship with George, Prince of Wales, the future George IV.

This print is signed below: Cruikshank inv and fecit. / Pubd By Thos. McLean, 26 Haymarket, Aug 1835.

It is in excellent condition - with no nasty condition issues to the sheet etc.

The image (from the external printed border) measures: 24 x 33.5 cm

It is in a fine Hogarth style black and gold frame - and recently re-mounted with a good quality double mount - it is certainly all ready just to hang on your wall. More images can be provided on request to show the frame etc.

The frame measures: 44 x 53 cm.

My price is indeed a very fair price for this interesting Regency print - and also given that they are currently all so beautifully presented.

Please see my other Cruikshank prints in my Iconic Edinburgh Online store.
