This is a strange little woodcut by the Scottish artist, Kenneth Roberts.

Roberts was born in Arbroath and studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee.

He is best known for his later paintings of the Angus landscape made in a broad impressionist style.

This is certainly a most unusual work by him and probably dates to early in his career, perhaps to the late 1940s.

It is a little highly detailed wood engraving - showing an almost surreal image of a park.

In the centre of the image, a nurse pushes a man in a bath chair or wheelchair through the park. This may be a soldier injured in WW2, and suggests a date to the late 1940s for this work.

In the distance is an abandoned playground, and in the far distance is a lighthouse, a row of beach huts and a little boat floating on the sea.

To the right is a large pavilion and to the left a bandstand.

It is a winter scene as revealed by the bare tree branches.

This work was originally purchased through the prestigious Edinburgh art gallery, Bourne Fine Art.

It is sold framed in a good quality oak frame and ready to hang on your wall.

Image size: 10.5 x 16.5 cm. Frame Size: 32 x 37 cm.

Please note: The price quoted here is from the artwork only.

The frame comes free with this artwork. Any damage in transit to the frame / mount / picture glass will not be subject to any refunds, discounts or re-framing costs from us.

There is a tiny pencil monogram for the artist in the bottom right-hand corner.

A most unusual work by this most underrated Scottish artist - as you can see from my photographs it is certainly a most accomplished print.

A fair asking price for this strange Scottish print.
