This is an original 1940s / 1950s poster that was probably handed to staff working in an American garage or service station - and was used to promote Federal Trucks.
The famous pin-up artist Knute O Munson lent his talents to several company advertising campaigns, including a series of pin-up girls for Federal Trucks.
The image of the lady playing tennis in her skimpy tennis outfit - allows for the witty exchange of words: the perfect service.
This is an original 1950s publication and not a reproduction.
The post advertises the Federal Truck Company - which was an American truck manufacturer which had its headquarters in Detroit, Michigan.
The last Federal vehicle made for the US marketplace was made in 1959. So this dates my poster to the late 1940s or 1950s.
It has been printed on a cheaper quality paper (as you might expect with ephemeral advertising posters which might have only been on display in the workshop or garage for a very short time). It comes from the same world as glamour girls or girlie calendars much favoured by male mechanics in the 1950s.
The paper has some vintage creases to the surface - commensurate with age and with use. I have taken a lot of close-up images of these - they look much more severe in close-up than in "real life" - please inspect these in detail to access the condition. You can see what the poster looks like on display in the large images of my husband holding it up.
The poster has been framed by us - and given an ivory coloured card acid-free window mount. It certainly makes this rare survivor a lovely item to hang for display.
Dimensions: Frame size is 61 x 49 cm. Image size is 52 x 39 cm.
These original posters do not come up for sale that often and most are in much worse condition than this one - with pins or tape marks where they were hung on the wall and tears to the edges.
This one is listed at a good price - it cost about £50 to frame it to this standard. It looks fabulous on display. They don't come up for sale very often.
Postage to the UK only. We will send with Parcelforce48 and it will be capped at £10 to post to you.
