This is one of a number of pretty vintage pieces of Scottish Studio pottery made by Davidson available in my online store. They look lovely as a group - and attached a photograph here to show that.

This is an attractive tall tubular vase that was made by the Scottish potter, Barbara Davidson and dates to the 1970s when she established her own pottery at Muirhall Farm, Larbert.

Her work has always featured pretty stoneware bowls decorated with abstract designs relating to the sea, sky or shoreline. The pattern is typical of her work and is a variant design called Clouds. This one has pale lemon yellow and ochre shades - loosely painted abstract shapes in the round on the vase. They are quite Japanese in inspiration and execution. The glaze on the main body of the vase is a grey-tinged egg-shell or satin finish. It is very tactile.

Her pottery was founded in 1969 - to this piece must date to just after this time.

Barbara was brought up in Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland, and in 1964 attended Glasgow School of Art.

One of her largest commissions was a larger ceramic mural measuring some 7 feet in length and 4 feet in height - this can still be seen in the Ladies Waiting Room at Queen Street Station in Glasgow.

These fine stoneware pieces by Davidson - with a fine abstract pattern, slightly reminiscent of works by Alan Caiger-Smith. This piece has not only the original paper label from her studio - but also has her impressed mark, as photographed.

These attractive vases by her are slightly harder to find (reflected in my asking price). It is in fantastic condition - clean with no damages.

Dimensions: The vase is 8 1/2 inches in height and with a diameter of 4 1/2 inches. It is 1 kg in weight (unpacked).

It will cost £4.95 to send to you on its own in the UK.
