These are collectible little pieces of vintage Scottish studio pottery.

Of offer here are the two handmade candle holders - one formed like an antique chamberstick (I love that undulating applied handle, so stylish)- and the other is a stand for a chunky pillar candle with applied flattened rings below the main upper section. These would have taken great skill to have applied.

They are unique items and made by the Scottish potter, Barbara Davidson and date back to the 1970s when she established her own pottery in Larbert. Both still have their original paper labels on the base.

Her work has always featured pretty stoneware bowls decorated with abstract designs relating to the sea, sky, or shoreline. The decoration on these is formed by painted stripes and streaks.

Her pottery was founded in 1969 - these pieces must date to just after this time.

Barbara was brought up in Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland, and in 1964 attended Glasgow School of Art.

One of her largest commissions was a larger ceramic mural measuring some 7 feet in length and 4 feet in height - this can still be seen in the Ladies' Waiting Room at Queen Street Station in Glasgow.

These pieces of rustic Scottish Art Pottery from the 1970s are now attracting commercial interest and prices as on the rise.

DIMENSIONS: The chamber stick with the whiplash handle has a diameter of the main section of 4 3/4 inches. From rim to end of the handle is 5 1/4 inches. Height is 2 1/4 inches.

The chunky holder with the unusual rings on the base section has a diameter of 4 1/4 inches. The height is 2 1/4 inches.

I am selling both of these at £25 each. They are both in excellent vintage condition.

UK Postage will be with Royal Mail Recorded Post. This will cost £4.95 and applied to your order at the checkout.
