This model has now been discontinued and is harder to find. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1987, Bing and Grondahl (B\u0026amp;G) merged with Royal Copenhagen, the other leading Danish porcelain manufacturer. It dates to the late 19th century or early 20th century.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI am not really an expert on these plaques - so I am going to fully describe it for you.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is certainly an antique piece - and not a modern copy or fake. There was a very old fragment of old newspaper which had the date on it - this is for 1934 - and it has been all sealed up in the back of the frame since it was probably re-framed in the 1930s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo this one certainly pre-dates the 1930s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI have looked for the KPM mark on the back - but sadly did not locate one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis makes me think that it might indeed not be KPM. but perhaps another German company such as Hutschenreuther - as it does have an impressed three letter code, as noted below - which often appears on Hutschenreuther plaques.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt plaque also has several pencil \/ pen inscribed numbers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll of which I have photographed for your inspection, but more photographs can be supplied for detailed inspection.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis plaque has the impressed number 260, perhaps a serial number?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis hand-painted plaque measures 6 5\/8 inches x 4 7\/8 inches (17.5 x 12.5 cm) - so slightly larger than some other examples.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe back of the plaque is flat - and the front is slightly convex with a camber to the surface, as you might expect.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis plaque is taken from a famous painting 1635 by Rembrandt - and shows Rembrandt and his wife, Saskia \/ Scene of the Prodigal Son - and shows the happy couple enjoying the high life! It seems to have been a popular subject for these plaques.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe plaque is in excellent condition with no damages. I have removed from the old frame - which admittedly is pretty basic.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is being sold as a genuine hand-painted late 19th century \/ early 20th-century example and it is all hand painted. The Exposition was formally opened on April 1, and closed on October 31, 1867, and was visited by 9,238,967 persons, including exhibitors and employees. This exposition was the greatest up to its time of all international expositions, both with respect to its extent and to the scope of its plan.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis plate is a transfer printed, made by LeBeuf Milliet \u0026amp; Company Creil et Montereau in 1867.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe image on the plate shows two visitors to the ceramics display at the exhibition. They are gazing around at all the products in wonder... they have not understood the new ceramic designs on display - and their ignorance of the latest ceramic fashions is revealed in the illustration - where the man is shown wearing a soup tureen as a hat - and the lady with a plate as a bonnet. They are standing at a counter above which there is a sign which reads \"Manufactures de Porcelaines Creil \u0026amp; Montereau.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBeneath the image is a French verse which reads \"No 3 Mr Chapeau Soupier. Mme Chapeau Assiette, Heureuse Alliance de la Porcelaine et de la Chapellerie.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDiameter 8 inches in diameter.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe plate is a rare survivor and is in excellent antique condition with no damages. She might be a San Marco figure or one modelled by Guido Cacciapuoti. She is certainly a very attractive and competent figurine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShe wears a peasant style dress with green bodice, pink skirt and yellow underskirt - all decorated with hand painted tiny flowers. She has been out in the garden and has been picking flowers which she has popped in a basket carried on her arm. She wears a finely woven straw hat - this is not made of ceramic - but is a real miniature straw one - this is original to the figure - and a very rare survivor.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI love her face - and her features remind me a little of the movie star, Marlene Dietrich. She has pronounced painted eyebrows, big eyelashes and a bright red rosebud mouth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShe is a really attractive model - and is in excellent condition with no losses or damages.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShe is 9 inches in height - and the width of her dress at the widest part is about 7 1\/4 inches. He subsequently worked with Bjorn Wiinblad and made blanks for Winblad who would decorate them. In 1956 Ditlev started his own pottery at Lyngby and later worked with Wiinblad again in the 1970s at the Nymolle pottery.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDitlev's pots always show his skill in using the potter's wheel and his use of subtle glazes is also very attractive - his domestic pieces are often made in stoneware and are very utilitarian in design.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese cups are typical of his work.
