This is a very stylish Scottish silver pendant made in the mid-1980s,
It has an Edinburgh hallmark for the year 1982 (the letter H).
It has a maker's initials stamped next to the hallmark - but I have been unable to identify the maker.
The beautiful pendant is a simple geometric design. It has a polished dark purple amethyst stone (it looks almost black when worn - but it is a deep purple when held up to the light). It is nicely set into the silver surround - I have photographed both sides for your inspection. The design reminds me of a Scottish targe shield - with a saltire behind and surmounted by a little abstract thistle motif.
It measures from sword tip to sword tip 5.8 cm. The diameter of the central stone is 2.4 cm. The chain can go over your head without having to use the clasp. It is 61 cm in length (24 inches).
It is nice and clean, polished and ready to wear.
