This is a fabulous original Herbert Terry Anglepoise Desk or Office Lamp.
It dates to the 1950s - and is in fine vintage condition.
It is in its original glossy black paintwork - as issued. It also has its original bulb holder with on-off finger switch. The shade is in good condition with no dents or nasty scratches - but does have a few little flecks of paint loss touched up. These are very minor restorations - and not visible when the lamp is on display - but with close-up inspection.
The springs are in fabulous condition - all lovely silver-toned with no rust or discolouration. The lamp is fully poseable - and keeps in position with no slumping.
The base is square and a twin-stepped one. The Herbert Terry logo and patented details are on the base of the arm, as photographed.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection. The original wiring was very short in length - so we have had is re-wired in a like-for-like cable. The original cable was a fine black plastic one - and we replaced it with a similar one to keep authentic to the original design. It now has well over 3 metres of cable - which will allow you to postition the lamp far away from a wall socket. The on and off switch is on the bulb-holder.
There is the previous owner's name inscribed on the foot - R. Armstrong and the date 1954 - which dates my lamp. I have not retouched this area - but left it visible as part of its history. It is not readily visible when the lamp is on display and indeed I did not even notice it at first - it is much exaggerated in my photograph of it. The anglepoise has been priced to take this into account.
I think that my lamp has been packed away for many years and hardly every used - given that is is a pretty good condition (apart from a couple of restored paint losses on the shade).
Please have a look at all the images to re-assure yourself of its condition. These probably give a better idea of the lamp than a long description from me. But all details photographed are original to the lamp - even the green felt on the base!
It will cost £14.95 with Parcelforce 24 to post in the UK - due to the weight - and also to pack in a large sturdy box to keep it safe in transit. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
