This is a very rare 1930s / 1940s German ceiling light. These are very rare survivors and you do not come across them that often.
This light is a little like a flying saucer in form and is an exceptionally stylish original Art Deco one.
The main body section is made of opaque glass. It glass has rings at the top and it flares out in the middle. Below is an inverted glass dome with a metal disk with a central knop, as photographed. The bottom glass section is removable to that you can insert a bulb into the fitment in the upper section.
There is a decorative nickel plated steel gallery on the top of the glass section. From this issues a hanging rod. There is also a metal ceiling rose over to hide your electrical connections in the ceiling. It has its original wiring and is fully earthed. You might wish to have the wiring checked out by an electrician for your peace of mind. But it looks fine to me.
The upper ribbed and flared part of the shade has a shiny finish to the glass – and the inverted dome below is a more satin finish.
It has a printed model number on the side of the shade, as photographed.
It is a very special original Art Deco pendant lamp and shade – and this is reflected in my asking price.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, burn stains. You wont be disappointed with it. It is a fabulous Siemens shade for an Art Deco period interior.
Dimensions: 26 inches the overall height. The shade is 14 ½ inches in diameter. The satin dome below is 10 ½ inches in diameter. The overall height of the shade is 10 inches.
It is 2.7 kg unpacked and it takes a single modern screw in bulb. This fits into a heavy duty ceramic bulb holder inside the shade.
I will be unable to send to you outside of the UK. I would have to charge about £24.95 for postage so that I can pack it in an extra large box to keep safe in transit. Of course - there would be free delivery in the Edinburgh area or pick up could be arranged.
