This is an attractive vintage 1960s / 1970s desk amp which was manufactured in Italy by Prova - and then imported to the UK and sold at BHS (British Home Stores) in the 1970s. These BHS vintage pieces are now becoming quite collectable - which their stylish but affordable designs.
This one looks for inspiration to similar designs made by Peter Nelson - but are obviously it is a much more affordable version.
I have two of these available in my store - this one is the black enamel and stainless steel version.
It is generally in good vintage condition, generally nice, and clean. No major disfiguring dents etc to the shade.
The lamp has a chrome upright stand which issues from a round black enameled base. There is a black hard plastic knop that turns and allows you to raise and lower the shade arm. The other arm with the shade can also be moved about here to a variety of angles, as photographed.
It is not identical to my white one - it is slightly different. The knop on the center of the arms is a different shape - and the shade is slightly smaller and of a different shape. The black section is more slender.
It comes with a finger switch which allows you to switch it on and off easily.
It is about 43 cm in height.
The diameter of the base is 16 cm (6 1/4 inches)
The overall length of the shade is 18 cm (7 inches)
The diameter of the shade at the widest is 10 cm (4 inches).
It has its original finger switch and about 3 meters of cable - a nice long length.
The base has its original paper covering below - it has sadly lost its old Prova label which is on my white version.
Of course, it is sold in working condition. It takes a Standard B22 bayonet light bulb.
UK POSTING ONLY. It will be sent to you with Royal Mail Recorded Post - as a medium size parcel - this will cost £6.95.
