Gosh! what is this item! it is a stopper thingie that fits in the top of a bottle of fizzy Bollinger or for those of you in the cheap seats - fizzy wine - and you can stop the bubbles disappearing and you can keep for another day.. not that I would know!
But there you go - a stopper for a bottle of fizz.
I used to know a lovely gentleman who used to have a fridge full of miniature champagne bottles - and he said they never lost fizz!
All the same - this is a fine collectable item for collectors of champagne-related items. These little stoppers were often given as gifts to passengers traveling on Concorde (but with the Concorde logo on it instead of the Bollinger one!).
It is designed for a standard-size bottle.
This one was made with the Bollinger 1829 crest logo on the front.
It is made of metal with silver plating - inside is a white resin stopper section - you sit the fitment on the neck of the bottle and twist the fan shape to the top and the cork moves down into the bottle - a little like a cork-screw in reverse.
Fair price for this wee vintage advertising item.
Lovely clean condition - with no damages. I have taken lots of photographs for your inspection.
Dimensions: height just under 6 cm. The diameter at the base area is about 3.5 cm.
It would cost £4.95 to post - but could be sent free with my champagne-related Christofle cork safe in my store.
