This is a collectible and very fine antique Japanese Cloisonne Vase.
This lovely baluster-shape vase is covered in a lovely red pigeon-blood Ginbari enamel with a textured foil ground. The enamel work on the flowers is certainly very delicate and beautifully rendered. The polychrome enamel work is contained within fine wire reserves and shows an exotic palm branch embellished with pretty prunus-type flowers.
The vase has nickel rims (silver plated), as photographed. On the base rim is the little flower stamp used as a maker's mark for the Ando company in Japan. This dates it to the Taisho or early Showa period (1921 - 1945).
Dimensions: The height is 7 1/4 inches and at the widest point is 4 inches. The base is 2 1/4 inches in diameter.
CONDITION: In pristine condition with no damages of any kind. It is certainly a beautiful example - it is listed at a fair price to take into account the craftsmanship and condition.
