This is the craziest of inkwells that I have ever seen... it takes the form of a Mr Turnip Head Covered all Over with Teardrops.

He is exceptionally rare.

He dates to the late 19th century and is made of fine gilt metal.

The top of his head is hinged and swings back to reveal the original glass liner - which has a nice thick brass band around the rim.

Mr Turnip is certainly finely modelled with quite exquisite and crisp details.

The curly, crunchy leaves of the turnip plant form the base that he sits on.

Dimensions: Height to top of little turnip is 5 1/2 inches. The base made of the leaves is roughly 6 inches square.

In excellent antique condition with no damages, nice and clean but with a patination to the metal commensurate with age.

You will have to look long and hard to find another quite like him.

Again, a fabulous novelty inkwell for the specialist collector.

It is listed at a fair price for this rare piece.

Postage quoted here is for UK Special Next Day Delivery, so that the wee fellow is fully insured in transit.
