This is a very attractive genuine antique Staffordshire figurine or model.
It would have originally have sat on your mantlepiece or sideboard and would have held long spills in the opening at the top - and you would have used this long spills to light the fire or lights / candles.
This would have originally been one of a pair with another one with the stag facing in the opposite direction. But it still forms a fine decorative Victorian figurine on its own.
This example is in just really lovely condition - the stag is being chased through the countryside - and with a hop, skip and a jump - manages to leap away from the black and white dog chasing him in the foreground. Therer are little patches of coloured and applied bocage here and there on the figurine.
It is a great antique piece perhaps would be more suitable for decorating a Highland Lodge House.
The figure is in excellent condition with no damages - and really amazing that the stag's fine legs have survived all this time without any cracks or damages to them.
A nice large size - being 11 inches in height - it is 7 1/4 inches wide - and with a shallow depth of 2 1/2 inches.
A fair price for this old ceramic group which dates to around the 1860s. Book reference ,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding, page 243, figure 2916.
Sadly I would have to confine postage to the UK, as it would have to be packed in a large sturdy box to survive the journey to you. It would be sent with Parcelforce24. This will cost about £10 and applied to your order at the checkout.
