The revolving 10-inch globe, mounted on a dished Deco stepped cream coloured bakelite stand and bearing the markers mark, Geographica Ltd, 114 Fleet Street London E.C.4. Railways, Steam Route Distances in Sea Miles. Commonwealth of Nations Red, Heights in English feet.

Overall height is 14 inches. The diameter of the white base is 6 inches.

It has a fine shiny chrome stand and a clean, damage-free bakelite base. It is lovely and clean with bright colours. The sections of the map are firmly secured to the globe with no lifting - and nice and shiny, as produced. No stains or darkening. Clean with no smells. As nice a 1930s desktop globe by this fine company that you might care to find. This is reflected in my asking price for this one. It is fair.

I have taken lots of images to show the lovely condition of this highly collectable globe - it is without condition issues. More photographs can be supplied on request to interested parties.

Geographia Ltd was a prolific London-based publisher of globes, maps and atlases from the early 1900s to the late 1980s.

Geographia was founded by Alexander Gross (1879-1958), described in the Collins Bartholomew company history as "a truculent Hungarian immigrant." The firm produced street maps and atlases of all the major cities in the United Kingdom, the most popular of which was the Greater London Street Atlas and its New York office produced street guides for American cities in the mid 20th century.

Sadly, I will be unable to post this lovely globe outside of the UK.

Postage quoted here is for Parcelforce48. Tracked and insured.
