It is a genuine 19th Century example dating to the 1850s. It is in excellent damage-free condition. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a spill vase - which you would have put on your mantlepiece or in the kitchen and you would have popped long tapers or spills to light lamps and fires etc into. The spill container takes the form of a tree stump to the left-hand side - and which is painted with a bright orange interior. The spread of spills would have resembled the branches of the tree when on display.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis a much harder to find and smaller example. It is beautifully modelled and has a more three-dimensional form to it. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe spill vase shows two little figures seated on a bank under a tree stump. They are a tired little couple - and appear to have fallen asleep. They are perhaps little sweethearts and there are two love birds in nests above each figure.
