Rarer Issue","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis is a very large mid-19th Century Staffordshire Figurine of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte III (1808 - 1873). It is a Royal Portrait of the French Emperor. France was Britain's ally in the Crimean War.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is one of two similar large subjects in my store featuring the French Emperor. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs one of Britain's allies - he was a rather popular figure with modellers at the Staffordshire factories. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are raised letters on the base annotating the title of the flatback figure - these would have originally been highlighted with more gold gilt - but this has in the main rubbed off over the years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Emperor is shown in a typical heroic pose seated in a battlefield with canons and black cannonballs behind him.  The subject relates to the Crimean War - and dates this figurine to around 1854. Louis Napoleon is shown wearing a plumed bicorn hat - he is wearing a military tunic with epaulettes breeches and long black boots. He has a sash picked out in gold across this chest and wears a decoration.  The colour applied to this Staffordshire figurine is more sparse - with stronger colours being applied to the canons etc in the background.  \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is in good antique condition - with no chips or cracks. There are no restorations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is sold as a GENUINE antique Staffordshire flatback figurine - and it is NOT a later reproduction. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a large figurine measuring some 16 inches in height. It is 9 1\/2 inches wide and it is 1.9kg in weight. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eProbably a model for the specialist Staffordshire pottery collector.
