The vase is certainly a most attractive one and would probably have original had a paper label instead of an etched signature. It probably dates to around the late 1930s. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWalther \u0026amp; Sohne was originally established in the 1880s by August Walther. They are best known for their superb range of Art Deco stylized glass figurines, bowls and angular vases.    \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe pattern on the gilt frieze is called the Grape Washer and this was first produced in 1933. It shows figures dancing about with gay abandon in a vineyard. A little figure is playing a long pan pipe and creating the music for the dancers who are harvesting the grapes and preparing to stamp on them to extract the juices.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis attractive amethyst coloured vase is similar to glass vases made by Moser in Czechoslovakia (please see my Moser lidded bowl also listed on my website).\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe tall vase is a fine piece of vintage German glass. It is in good condition with no chips or cracks. The gold gilding is nice and shiny. It looks just fabulous on display. I love the rich dark purple colour of the glass and all the ribbon facets rising around the main body section. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDimensions: It is 6 3\/8 inches in height. The diameter of the rim just under 5 inches.
