Ltd in the 1930s, the character having debuted in Walt Disney's 1928 animated short film 'Steamboat Willie'.  \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAfter the big success of the first talking cartoon, \"Steamboat Willie”, Dean’s Rag Book Company produced the first Mickey Mouse soft toy in the early 30s. Indeed, they were the first company to produce the famous Walt Disney toy cartoon character.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMy little soft velveteen toy is about 6 inches in height - he sadly has no label - I don’t know if these toys originally had one or not. He seems to have a little registration number printed in black on his neck (as photographed). \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wee figure is in a delicate condition. There have been some losses to his little black felt ears - and his hands are now loosely attached. He has lost two little buttons to the top of his shorts at the front but another two are still present at the back. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese toys weren’t manufactured for very long as it was thought that the face of this Mickey would be too scary for children.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt doesn’t have tail either but these never lasted as were made of a perishable rubber material. Mickey has a black velvet body, cream face with printed features - his eyes are printed in black. He has beige felt hands (originally white - but slightly discoloured with age), yellow felt shoes with leather soles (good condition), grey-pink (slightly faded) velvet shorts. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI have taken lots of images for your inspection. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA similar example is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is the second of these little Dean Rag Dog Mickey Mouse items that I have had to offer in my store.
