It was made by the French ceramic artist, Francis Triay (\u003cspan\u003e1927-2013), who was based at Aubagne.  His works are now hard to source.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt dates to the 1950s and is a unique piece. The texture of the outer surface is a rough grey like concrete and the interior by contrast is a bright glossy red.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pre-historic decoration features stylized and rather naive cavemen which you find on other vintage Triay pieces. \u003cspan\u003eI have taken lots of images for your inspection.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe front of the vase shows a raised image of a deer or reindeer's head. The back has another raised image of a goat running. There is a selection of lightly incised cave art images or symbols.
