The signature has run a little in the application, but it is the mark for the potter David Tipler.  He joined the pottery in 1961 and left Aldermaston in 1975.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe mugs were made at the Aldermaston Pottery, probably in the 1960s. The Pottery was founded in Berkshire in 1955 by Alan Caiger-Smith.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHalf a dozen assistant potters worked at Aldermaston and they worked as a team for more routine production work and individually for studio pieces.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pottery is noted mainly for its tin-glaze wares with stylish abstract designs and also for its lustreware.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a pretty matched pair of hand-thrown and hand-painted coffee mugs. The pattern on each much is the same. The mug with the darker blue pattern is 9 cm in height - and the diameter is just over 7 cm.
