Incised C Mark on Base

This is a large unique piece of mid-century Studio or Art Pottery.

I am dating it to the late 1960s to the mid-1970s on stylistic grounds. It is a very large size and looks quite stunning on display.

It has an overall height of about 12 inches and with a diameter of around 7 1/2 inches. It weighs a stonking 2kg in weight.

It is a very sculptural and dramatic piece when on display.

It is of elongated ovoid form and is made from heavy earthenware pottery. The main body is covered with a very thick layer of cream eggshell finish glaze. The potter has cut geometric channels into the glaze. This a check pattern with carefully places vertical dashes. They have then filled this in with a glossy black glaze, as photographed.

It looks very stylish and would look fabulous on display in a mid-century futurist interior or with your Scandi-modern furniture.

It has certainly taken some time and skill to make this piece. Sadly, from the simple incised C mark on the base, as photographed. I have been unable to identify the maker. If I had made this, I would have made sure my name was all over it!!!

It is a unique hand-made vintage piece and is very attractive. I have taken this into account with my pricing and given that I have been unable to give it a firm attribution.

Sadly, due to weight and size - I would have to send you with Parcelforce24. This will be applied to your order at check out.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0271/1902/6240/files/1970s-art-pottery-massive-sculptural-vase-with-incised-geometric-pattern-c-mark-on-base-british-ceramics-226.webp?v=1793899507
https://www.iconicedinburgh.co.uk/products/1970s-art-pottery-massive-sculptural-vase-geometric-pattern-incised-c-mark
