{"product_id":"1970s-space-age-guzzini-style-table-lamp-double-skinned-ball-shade-a","title":"1970s Space Age Guzzini Style Table Lamp with Double Skinned Ball Shade (B)","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis is one of two matching lamps that I have currently on my website.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is an original 1970s issue - and it is a space-age table lamp with a chrome base and double-layered plastic shade. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lamp is probably Italian in origin (but possibly retailed through BHS or a similar store).  It takes inspiration from slightly more sophisticated designs made by Guzzini at this time. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a lovely and much sought-after lamp. It is rare for you to find two available in the same shop. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe base is made of shiny chromed steel and has a diameter of 8 1\/ 4 inches. The base depth is 3 \/4 inch. The upstand issues from the base. The stand on both lamps is lovely and straight \u0026amp; firm. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe height from the base to the top of the shade is 17 1\/2 inches. From the base to the top of the pointy finial is 20 inches. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe exterior shade has a diameter of 12 inches.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe shade is more unusual in that it has a clear smokey brown outer shade and the interior one is a cafe-creme colour. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSadly, there are a number of splits to the inner shade (some are just over a cm in length) where it meets the metal decorative cap at the top. This is age-related as the plastic is not a little more fragile.  You can only really see these when looking down on the light. But if have the lamp and the shade placed about eye level, then you will never see them. That is the only flaw apart from that in just fabulous condition. You might be able to repair it if you are nimble-fingered. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese double-layered shades are now much harder to find. The little condition issue is reflected in an even lower asking price for this one.
