It is ovenproof and can be used from oven to table. It is also dishwater proof and can be used in a microwave. as annotated on the mark on the base.

It is from the Style range which was made by Midwinter as part of the Wedgwood Group. It dates to the early 1980s. The Style reference on the backstamp may related to more successful early lines made by Midwinter in the 1950s and 60s - such as the Stylecraft range.

This is certainly a fabulous modernist late Midwinter design. I love the built in lug handles or shaped wings at each side. This is a smart design feature which will make it easier for you to lift the dish out of the oven. How areodynamic is that streamlined intrigrated handle on the lid. The whole design certainly is stylish and lives up to the range name "Style". It is 1980s British minimalism at its very best. It reminds me of similar pieces made by Rosenthal at this time.

Dimesions: Height from base to top of handle 6 inches. From lug to lug on main body section it is 10 1/2 inches. It is 5 3/4 inches at the widest point.

It is in excellent condition and with no signs of any use. No chips or cracks, as nice an example as you might find. Postage will have to be with Royal Mail Medium Parcel so that I can have both lid and body carefully wraped and pack. The parcel will be tracked but not signed for to keep your costs down.

History: In 1968 Midwinter suffered from financial hardship and formed a merger with J&G Meakin. Two years later this merged company were taken over by Wedgwood and Midwinter was allowed to function as a semi-autonomous concern under Wedgwood. Production continued from 1970 right up until 1987 when sadly Midwinter was permanently closed.

I have always loved all Midwinter designs - that was a sad day for British ceramic manufacturing.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0271/1902/6240/files/1980s-midwinter-wedgwood-style-design-lidded-tureen-or-casserole-dish-british-ceramics-659.webp?v=1789667897
