It came to me in a rather old tatty frame and I have recently had it taken out of its original frame and given a new fresh window mount and frame. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen I took it out of the original frame, I found that it had also been painted on the reverse and also had the artist's signature and a dedication: For Sarah \/ December 1984 \/ Paul Burgess (as photographed). \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe painting has been made with gouache paints on three joined sections of card and dates to the 1980s.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShort Biography: Paul Burgess seems to have studied at the Camberwell School of Art in London, and then at the Royal College of Art.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis early work was inspired by his love of pop and indie music and experimental art - Dada, Bowie, Warhol, Burroughs, Punk, Reggae and Hip-hop are influences that he credits. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBurgess worked as an illustrator and photographer for 20 years. In recent years, he has been working on album artwork with Stephen Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire) for various projects including Wrangler, Creep Show and his own solo material. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBurgess had also been working on collaborative projects with the band Pulp. He spent six years (1994 - 1999) making photographic studies of Jarvis Cocker and Pulp at liv\u003c\/span\u003ee gigs, video-shoots, and other events.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThese early original artworks by Burgess are rather rare items. I would imagine that this attractive miniature triptych painting was a gift given by him to a fellow student called Sarah at Camberwell. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAlthough you can't see it when the painting is all framed up, it has another sketch and signature on the reverse.
