MONTROSE PATTERN. 8 1/4 inches

This listing is for ONE PAIR of vintage Edinburgh Crystal tall water goblets (or red wine glasses). I have two pairs available and another two pairs of slightly smaller ones.

The Montrose pattern is a more minimalistic one and more in line with modern tastes. It is also a harder to find one - probably as it was always difficult to make and always an expensive purchase. It was made for a short period between 1993 - 2000 before being discontinued.

The bottom of the bowl is covered all over with a criss-cross decoration with cut vertical spears all around. The stem is faceted (a mark of quality) and there is an deeply engraved star on the base of the glass.

There is no etched Edinburgh Crystal mark on these - they might have originally had a paper sticker, lost over time. But they are most definitely large Montrose glasses. They are the largest size you can get in this pattern. They are 8 1/4 inches in height. The rim is just over 3 inches and the foot is 3 inches. These large glasses (originally marketed as Water Goblets) are perfect for today's taste for larger servings of red wine.

They are all in good condition - you will not be disappointed with them.

The price here is for one pair - - but I have other pairs listed in my store as well (we also have some slightly smaller ones for red wine, each size is photographed in my last image).

The glasses look fabulous and are great glasses for a special occasion or celebration. I have included an image of all my Montrose glasses as a wee grouping.

This large size is hard to source and these are being sold at a fair price. I am listing these at a bargain price of £35 each glass.

I have taken lots of photographs for your inspection.

Postage for his glass will be with Royal Mail Tracked Post (Medium Parcel).

History: The Edinburgh and Leith Flint Glassworks was established in the 1860's at Leith Walk Glassworks and later at Norton Park in Edinburgh.

In 1921 the glassworks became part of Webbs Crystal Glass Company. In 1955, The Edinburgh and Leith Glassworks became Edinburgh Crystal, and the next decade saw further expansion and eventually the demolition of the old glassworks at Norton Park and new premises at Penicuik 10 miles south of Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Crystal went into administration in July 2006. Although the brand was taken over by the Waterford / Wedgwood Group the factory no longer exists and the brand is now discontinued.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0271/1902/6240/files/03_12_2025_0106_011e6c04-4a94-4ef0-baa5-7c0caee4b4da.jpg?v=1764793588
https://www.iconicedinburgh.co.uk/products/3-pair-vintage-edinburgh-crystal-large-water-goblets-fabulous-king-james-pattern-9-inches-code-a-copy
