It has an attractive ochre yellow lustre leafy abstract pattern which is very typical of designs by Caiger-Smith. The calligraphic brushstrokes are typical of his work. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt also has a painted mark on the base which I believe is the signature of Alan Caiger-Smith (1930 - 2020). \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlan Caiger-Smith was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1930. He studied drawing and painting at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts. In 1947 he went on to read History at King's College, Cambridge, graduating in 1952. He trained in pottery at the Central School of Art and Design in 1954 under Dora Billington.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Aldermaston Pottery was founded in Berkshire in the 1950s by Caiger-Skith and Geoffrey Eastop. Over the years the studio has been home and training ground for many fine British art potters. The pottery is best known for its fine tin-glaze wares.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis delightful little hand-painted vase is in great vintage condition and probably dates to the 1960s. It has no damages. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHeight is just under 4 1\/2 inches. The diameter at the base is just over 3 1\/4 inches and the diameter at the top is just over 2 1\/2 inches. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are lots of other signatures and marks on the base which I have photographed for you.
