The lid has two oblong black agates with white inclusions. The edges are faceted and smoothed all around. There are four little decorative ball feet at the corners, as photographed. There are lighter-coloured and more translucent honey-coloured agates around the sides. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eIt dates to the later 19th century and is probably German in origin. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eIt is in good condition with no chips or cracks.I have taken lots of images of the box so that you can assess its condition.  The hinges of the box are nice and secure and the gilt metal framework of the box is clean but with a patina of age. There is a little inclusion in one of the lighter agate panels on the side.
