The top of the lid is has a pin prick lion rampant design surmounted by a crown. It is in a shield or crest - filled in with red. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe box is a one and is made of bent pine or birch wood and held in place by two fine strips of wood as a fastening. It is a good quality antique box. I think that this old tine is probably a 19th Century Porridge Pot.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI think that this box is probably more likely to be Norwegian in origin. I think that the lion image on the lid related to the Coat of Arms for Norway.  This crest r\u003cspan\u003eepresents the monarchy and the Kingdom of Norway. I love the depiction of the entwined Norse dragons around the sides. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe box is in a good condition for its age - with no chips or losses. The delicate handle on the lid is still intact and has not been restored.
