Walton

This is a very pretty hand-painted Scottish bowl. It is probably decorated by one of the artists working for Bough Pottery. It looks rather like the work and fruiting vine designs by Richard Amour.

Bough Pottery was founded by Elizabeth and Richard Amour in the 1920s. They specialized in decorating blanks which they bought in from pottery companies in England and Scotland (many from Maling Pottery, Newcastle).

This piece might be by a trainee learning ceramic decoration and techniques from the Amours. It has a decorator's mark or cipher on the bottom - and also signed R. Walton N.B

It is a nice large size and would function as a fruit bowl. It is decorated all other with fruits and leaves, as photographed.

The bowl is 9 inches in diameter and 2 1/4 inches in height.

It is in very good antique condition and the paintwork is very fine and covers the whole of the bowl. It has no chips or cracks.

It will be sent to you with Royal Mail Tracked, Medium Parcel.
