This is an original Victorian-era solid brass cat nutcracker.
It dates to around 1890s.
The tail opens the mouth for the nut to be cracked and is in good working order.
This is a fine piece that is in excellent antique condition. It is nice and clean- with a good sheen to the metal. The brass has not dulled over time.
It is made from solid brass which has a patina of age and light wear consistent with age and use. It is now about 130 years old. Great piece for breaking the shells on autumnal nuts and the Festive Season.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection.
