Rare Set of Early Poole Egg Cups by Carter Stabler & Adams. They date to around the 1930s and are very "jazz age" in feel.
Quirky Geometric Pattern. 4 Matching Patterns and Further 2 Matching Patterns on Each Egg Cup. They come on their original ceramic tray with the early Carter, Stabler Adams impressed mark. All the cups have the same early Poole impressed marks on red clay - and the same decorator's marks - so it appears that my set is as "put together" originally at the Poole Pottery - perhaps they didn't notice all the trays were not of the same pattern! This is reflected in my asking price - single egg cups often sell at £20 each.
I have taken lots of images for your inspection - all in good condition with no chips or cracks. The glaze on the base of the tray has some age-related craquelure, as photographed in extreme close-up.
These old sets of egg cups are now rare survivors and this is reflected in my asking price - which is a fair one.
Dimensions: Tray is 23 cm x 14 cm (9 x 5 1/2 inches). Each little egg cup is 3.8 x 5 cm (1 1/2 x 2 inches).
The cost to post in the UK will be £4.95. This will be sent with Royal Mail 2nd Class Recorded and will be applied to your order at the checkout.
