This is a lovely Scottish St Magnus silver brooch made in the mid-1970s by Malcolm Gray for Ortak,
The Ortak company was originally founded in the late sixties by Malcolm Gray in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. The company grew steadily to become one of the UK's leading manufacturers and designers of fine silver and gold jewellery.
The beautiful brooch is in the St Magnus cross design. It is a small and intricately made work by Grey - but great as an understated piece to wear on a jacket lapel or winter cap.
It is only an inch (2.5 cm) in diameter and has teeny-weeny hallmarks on the back on the top upright spike decoration - as you can see in my photographs.
It is nice and shiny and will be sent to you in a little card gift box.
Vintage Ortak pieces are now becoming highly collectable. This is a fair price for this lovely Scottish silver designer brooch.
Postage is being charged here at my standard rate of £4.95 - I would imagine I should get it for under this price - UK postage overpayments will be refunded to you.
