This is a very stylish piece of vintage Scottish jewellery. It is made by Ceard as annotated on the reverse. The design is called Rain
The brooch is a shield shape and is decorated with stylized abstract design representing falling rain. It is certainly a very fine and attractive design, and a harder to find one.
It is made of matt finished pewter and is in very good vintage condition.
It is being sold all nice and clean, ready to wear.
Dimensions: 5.8 x 2.5 cm
Ceard is a Gaelic word, meaning maker or craftsperson. The Ceard Company dates to the 1970s and was a collective of Scottish jewellers who made fine pewter items. The company's lead designer was John Forsyth. Their pieces of pewter jewellery are inspired by Scottish places and wildlife but are made in a modernist style.
These are now highly collectable. I have a wee range of them for sale in my shop - postal discounts would apply if you would like more than one piece.
