This is a lovely vintage silver brooch. It is marked silver on the reverse - but no hallmarks or maker's name.
Stylistically it is similar to brooches made by Shipton & Company and made in the 1940s and who looked to the work of Alexander Ritchie for design inspiration.
The pin and construction of this old silver brooch are commensurate with it being made in the first half of the 20th century. It is a nice substantial one with full silver back and also a good weight to it.
The brooch takes the form of a Scottish targe or shield - it has an inset purple amethyst held in place with little claws - around the edge are four little citrines which are set into hollows in the silver so that the light shines through. There is a nice little band of decorative knotwork around the edge.
A nice larger size measuring 1 3/8 inches or 3.5 cm in diameter.
It has an old ring clasp on the back.
The postage quoted is for UK Royal Mail Recorded Mail. This will cost £4.95 and applied to your order at the checkout.
