He first studied natural sciences at the University of Oslo. He then worked as schoolteacher until the 1970s, when he changed the direction of his career from science to art.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan dir=\"auto\"\u003eHe was a pupil of Herman Bendixen at the Asker Malerskole painting school 1970–73. Egebakken was best known for his paintings of the Norwegian landscape with a focus on capturing shifting light and a tranquil atmosphere.
