Oh! how adorable is Mademoiselle Fifi. She is a little vintage toy - made in the 1950s in Japan.
She is battery operated and I have just popped in a couple of large 1.5 v modern batteries and she is working just fine and dandy.
My wee poodle is in excellent condition - and I think that she has never ever been out of her box - she is in such excellent condition. This is rare to find these old Japanese toys in pristine condition.
Sadly, the box has not fared so well - and it has some damage - mostly to the edges and corners. I think that the box is so poor as it has probably been moved about over the years - but the toy inside never played with. The box is made of slightly flimsy and thinner card - so often on these old toys the box is often not in such tip-top condition. It is now about 70 years old...
But it is the poodle that is the star here!
My poodle is made of metal and the legs and head are covered with fluffy white faux fur - she has a wee beret with a yellow pom-pom on the top - and an open mouth that is red inside. She has a little tan leather collar and a red tartan coat. All lovely and clean and without issue. She has metal feet with little black wheels which allow the toy to readily move about.
The toy is battery operated - with a little fine twisted plastic cable that attaches to the battery controller - it slides open and the batteries pop in. There is a push button and you press this and the wee poochie performs a variety of tricks etc.
It is sold in working condition - I have tested it with two large 1.5 v batteries - and it is fine. I cannot post the batteries with the toy - as it is not legal to do so.
The box gives you all the details - Princess French Poodle was made by the Cragstan Corporation in Japan - there is also an original label stating his on the bottom of her coat. The box says she is Happy and Lovable! Her eyes light up - she walks, then sits up and bega and continues walking.
