his is a fabulous Georgian snuff box. It is in fantastic condition for its age - and is made from a black lacquered papier-mâché. Their is lettering on the top which reads: Take a Pinch. So a little risque as well! The dull gold tone lettering and foliate decoration are in such fine, unrubbed condition.
The lid lifts up and has a metal hinge at the back - the hinge has some slight rusting to the metal - but it is firm and stable - this is commensurate with the great age of this cute little snuff box. The exterior condition of the box suggests that it has been packed away carefully from the day that it was made.
There is little debris inside the box - which looks like it might be a little bit of old snuff - I have not removed this - but left it in place as a part of its history.
There are no chips, scuffs, or restoration work to the box - and have taken lots of images for your inspection.
Dimensions: it is just over 2 1/2 inches long (6.5 cm). With a depth of 1 1/2 inches (2.5 cm) and a height of just under an inch (2 cm).
