Marked on the Rim: Nova Depose

This is a fine antique glass hanging light shade or shallow glass plafonnier made of moulded white opalescent glass.

It has a pressed signature: and is signed Nova Depose, as photographed. It was quite faint and difficult for me to photograph. This lovely shade probably dates to the mid-1920s or 1930s.

The is a highly decorative one - and the design consisted of posies of roses seen in deep relief and abstract raised swirls between each group of rose-heads. There is a raised group of roses on the centre of shade.

Dimensions: The diameter is 13 3/4 inches (35 cm). The depth of the shade is 6 inches (15 cm). The chains are 19 inches (48 cm). It is a rather substantial shade - and comes in at a stonking just over 3 kg.

The chains could be shortened if required. The metal chains are not original to the shade but are more contemporary replacements. The silvered decorative button fittings (with little roses on them) on the glass shade section are original to the plafonnier - and I have photographed them in close up.

The shallow shade or plafonnier is in good antique condition with no chips or cracks. It has one wee scuff to the satin finish (which I have photographed for your inspection). It will look fabulous in an Art Deco interior - in a hallway, bathroom or boudoir! It is also a nice large size - this has been taken into consideration with my pricing for this collectable piece of glass.

Due to its size and weight - it is going to be a tad more expensive to post to you. This will applied to your order at the checkout. The shade will be fully insured in transit.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0271/1902/6240/files/french-art-deco-opalescent-glass-shade-plafonnier-with-roses-geometric-decoration-marked-on-the-rim-nova-depose-european-199.webp?v=1785498927
https://www.iconicedinburgh.co.uk/products/french-art-deco-glass-shade-plafonnier-roses-marked-nova-depose
