This is a very stunning piece of vintage hand blown Scottish art glass.
It dates to around the 1930s. It is a genuine Monart piece with the catalogued shape OE and the height classified as VIII.
My lovely vase has the typical "double" polished pontil, that you find on pieces of Monart glass - the raised central disk would have originally had a gold paper Monart label on it - but sadly, this is no longer present. Not signed - but Monart prices never had a signature - so that is not a worry.
There is NO etched Vasart mark and no later leaping salmon mark either - which again would back up my attribution to an earlier Monart piece.
It is certainly a beautiful example of vintage Scottish glass with such attractive colours.
The base section of the vase has a light mottled sugar pink tone - from which issues lots of slightly darker pink and black coloured swirls. Around the rim, there are lots of fleck of a dark purple / black glass - and these mix with lots of gold aventurine inclusions - they fair twinkle when they catch the light.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Nice larger size - with a height of 7 inches. The diameter at the top is 5 inches.
Weight unpacked is just about 740 grams.
A fair asking price for a collectable piece of Scottish Art Glass by Monart.
