Fabulous Abstract - Festival of Britain Inspired Atomic Design","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis is a really rare larger-sized 1950s sweets tin - in fine vintage condition given its age.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt dates to the late 1950s and was made for Horner's in Durham. The design is (to me) very reminiscent of imagery used to promote the 1951 Festival of Britain Exhibition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a fine petrol blue matt round tin - with a dramatic white star on the lid - the tin contains not just sweets - but delicious sweets!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI love the fluted edges all around this one - something that you don't see that often - and lots of fabulous abstract decoration all around.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe diameter is 10 inches - and the height is 5 1\/2 inches.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt says on the bottom of the tin - that it is non-refundable (often because of the size of these tins - and possibly also for rationing - these tins often had a deposit on them - and you got money back if you returned your empty tin to the retailer).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe interior is in fine condition with no nasty rusting - just a little oxidization of the tin, commensurate with age.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are some very minor little dents to the rim on the top - very shallow and part of its history.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe colours of the image are nice and bright - and with no disfiguring scratches.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTaken lots of photographs for your inspection - it is a very attractive tin for storage or display - and in great vintage condition - this is reflected in my asking price which is a fair one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDue to its size - it would have to be sent as a medium-sized parcel with the Royal Mail.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Iconic Edinburgh","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55714315829627,"sku":"21\/1025","price":45.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0271\/1902\/6240\/files\/huge-vintage-1950s-horner-delicious-sweets-tin-fabulous-abstract-festival-of-britain-inspired-atomic-design-328.webp?v=1783892170","url":"https:\/\/www.iconicedinburgh.co.uk\/products\/huge-vintage-1950s-horner-delicious-sweets-tin-fabulous-abstract-festival-of-britain-inspired-atomic-design","provider":"Iconic Edinburgh","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
